Green

I have been working on Our Family Tree for the past week.  This is what it looks like now.

The conjunction of where I left off with A Perfect Setting was a little unfortunate because I went from working on a tree to working on a tree. I am a little sick of green and am looking forward to stitching another color.

A Belated Update

It has been a while since I have posted.  My time has been taken up by my twins graduating from high school and also preparing for our troop’s scout camp.  I have been cross stitching, just not as much as I would have liked.

I have worked more on Our Family Tree and I am happy with how it is coming along. I have reached the upper right corner of the vignette and the tree trunk is also in place.  I am going to need to go back and stitch individual stitches that are blended with blending filament.  I felt that it would be better to wait until the surrounding area is filled.

I also added another piece to my rotation.  This is Isaiah 40:31 by Donna Vermillion Giampa.  It will eventually be a picture of an eagle landing with the text of Isaiah 40:31 surrounding it. I finished the wing and  moving on to the body. This is turning out to be a really simple piece that can be completed in a relatively short time.

I am trying to decide how many active projects to keep in my rotation. Too many projects would mean that I would never finish anything.  However I have so many things that I want to work on and I am pretty impatient.  As of now I am thinking that I am going to limit myself to four or five projects.

Our Family Tree One Week Later

I haven’t had a whole lot of time to stitch this week because of end-of-school-year concerts and a lesson that I had to teach in Sunday School yesterday.  Also, this design has turned out to be quite full of confetti, which has also slowed me down.  This is what Our Family Tree looks like after one week of stitching.

I am really happy with how it is looking.  Next time that I work on this I will be into the hear of the design working on the oak tree.

A New (Re)Start

I decided that I needed a break from the house, so I have decided to set up a rotation again.  For the last couple nights I have been working on this:

This is “Our Family Tree” which is a design by Stoney Creek.  It will eventually be panel of an oak tree with a pedigree chart surrounded by a border of roses, butterflies, oak leaves, and acorns.

This is actually the second time that I have started this.  The first time I used a cheap linen from MCG Textiles.  I came to hate that fabric so much that I couldn’t stand even looking at it.  I already like this better with the fabric that I am using.

I have actually been feeling quite a bit of pressure to get this going as it has a deadline.  I am planning on giving it as a gift in fall of 2017.  That seems like it is a long way off, but I would rather finish it sooner rather than later so that I am not scrambling in the end.

There is an enormous amount of confetti in the area that I have been stitching.  To add to the complications, there are random stitches that have one strand of floss blended with two strands of blending filament.  I am sure that the final effect will be quite nice as there will be random sparkles distributed through the design.  However, right now I find this just irritating.

I will be glad when this picture starts to look like something.
